Vitamin E

Tocopherol

The lipid-phase antioxidant that guards the barrier.

Biology

A fat-soluble antioxidant that sits within the skin's lipid layers — the 'forte' in Tocoforte (toco- = tocopherol).

Mechanism of action

Interrupts free-radical chain reactions in the membrane, protecting barrier lipids from oxidative damage where water-soluble antioxidants can't reach.

Stability & formulation

Oil-soluble and comparatively stable; protects the more fragile Vitamin C alongside it.

Synergy in the formula

Partnered with Vitamin C in the C+E network — lipid-phase and water-phase defence working as one system.
